On February 26, 2009, President Obama released his proposed FY 2010 budget, which includes a provision to eliminate the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).

On behalf of the members of the Pennsylvania Education Lenders Association (PELA), I am urging you to voice your opinion on this matter and be a voice on choice. Having both the FFEL program and the Direct Loan program co-exist has helped improve both programs and improved service levels. This country was built on the freedom to choose. I would hope you would support the continuation of both programs.

Together we can pursue efficient programs and maintain choice for students, families and schools in Pennsylvania. Please click here to contact your Representatives and be the voice of choice.   Please click here to sign a petition hosted by the Consumer Bankers Association.

Respectfully,
Sharon Murray, PELA President

TAKE CHARGE - FIGHTING BACK
AGAINST IDENTITY THEFT

In the course of a busy day, you may
write a check at the grocery store, charge tickets to a ball game, rent a car, mail your tax returns, change service providers
for your cell phone, or apply for a credit
card. Chances are you don't give these everyday transactions a second thought.
But an identity thief does. Visit the
FTC web site to learn more about how to prevent identity theft from happening to
you and your students.

Additionally, please download
PELA's Identity Theft Presentation from a recent PASFAA Spring Training event, as
we invite you to learn more about identity theft.
